The longest day!

Well what a day (so far)!!

They can’t make movies about this kinda stuff!!........................... No really they can’t!

So I was running late (of course!) but in my mind I was still on time. Dad and Jen were picking me up at 8am so I thought if I got up at 6.15am then I’d have time to repack my bag (take out all the stuff I really didn’t need!), have a shower, get sorted and give Milo (my cat!) a kiss and cuddle goodbye.

Why do things never turn out the way you want!!

Dad and Jen arrived the obligatory 15 mins late, but thats ok that was tailored into the schedule. What wasn’t tailored into the schedule was my desire to put the rubbish and recycling out whilst treading in cat poo (obviously not Milos!) and then treading cat poo all over the house and all up my jeans and trainers (the jeans, I hasten to add, I had spent 2 days deciding on whether they were going to New Zealand or not!!).

At this stage we were already half hour late in leaving. This, of course, was in addition to asking dad to convert 3 CDs to MP3s (thanks dad) me cleaning and drying my jeans, Jen trying to clean poo off my trainers, me trying to clean the floors and of course Milo hiding under the bed when I wanted to say goodbye! The result was us leaving Eastbourne at 9am!
For a flight that was leaving at 12 midday from Heathrow, it wasn’t looking good to be honest!

So of course I (silently) cursed the fact that I hadn’t put the rubbish out the night before etc etc but only briefly, apart from the fact that if I missed the flight it was (a bit) bad, the rest of it was pretty amusing and could (probably) only happen to me! But hey, when it came down to it either I was going to make the flight or I wasn’t.
Jen drove like the wind (or at least a strong breeze (thanks Jen)) despite my offer of driving! But we did get there (amazingly) and although we didn’t get a chance to have tea and a toasted sandwich like we normally do, I did get there in enough time to board the flight (!), buy some water for the journey, chat to the check-in staff and pop into duty free to get a squirt of Issey Miyake (no promotion giveaways here, honest!).

Now on to LAX and the American immigration system. :-(
