The Bay of Islands (3rd Feb)

After breakfast this morning I chatted to the hostel owner about the possibility of heading out on the Cream Boat trip at some point, she said that if I could get myself together now I could go today, so I did. The Cream boat is a trip around the Bay of Islands following the trip the Cream boat used to take, now the boat drops off supplies at different islands on request, there is also hopefully the opportunity to swim with dolphins, the wild variety, not the trapped in a cage type.

Surely an award winning pic??!!

One of the places we dropped off supplies to was this guy and his dog, he was funny, he said he’s had so many photos taken off him but no-one ever sends him a copy!

The trip was lovely, the scenery of the islands is beautiful. We saw lots of dolphins playing and jumping with babies which was lovely, but because of the young we weren’t able to swim with them. Oh well maybe when I get down south.

Our lunch time stop was beautiful, and there was a short climb to a lookout point where you could get a view across several of the islands and waterways between.
A lot of the islands we passed had some great houses on them, yes please!

Our lunch time stop!

Black rock (aka lava!!)

Before I came away Jules, my friend from NZ, recommended I came to Paihia to stay because it was so beautiful, so here I am. She also recommended the fish and chips here saying that they were the best anywhere. So I thought it only right that I test them out. And they were very good, thanks Jules.

Before I headed back to the hostel I booked onto another tour for the morning, going up to Cape Reinga, the end of the world, and where two seas meet. Part of the tour is tasting the famous fish and chips of Mangonui. So I’m wondering, how many times in a row can I have fish and chips in the interest of science and the discovery of the best in NZ?? And somewhere, surely the potatoes must come into one of my five a day right?? Or maybe wrong huh?
